New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery

Fees include the grave site, opening and closing of the grave, engraved headstone or niche marker, and perpetual care. For full-casket burials, pre-placed outer burial containers (OBC) are available free of charge in newer burial sections. In older full-casket sections, the family is responsible for the cost, delivery, and installation of an OBC through a funeral home.

State residency is determined in accordance with DSMV 634A (Rev. 6/2019). Proof of residency for Selected Reserve at the time of death must be provided prior to scheduling an interment service.

Note: The NHSVC receives a plot allowance from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) determined by the date of death for a veteran eligible based on NCA Directive 3210/1 and public law affecting the NCA according to the following dates:

• Prior to June 18, 1973, there were no plot allowances
• $150.00 if the Veterans death occurred between June 18, 1973, and November 30, 2001
• $300.00 if death occurred between December 1, 2001, and September 30, 2011
• $700 if the death occurred between October 1, 2011, and September 30, 2012
• $722 if the death occurred after October 1, 2012
• $734 if the death occurred after October 1, 2013
• $745 if the death occurred after October 1, 2014
• $747 if the death occurred after October 1, 2015
• $749 if the death occurred after October 1, 2016
• $762 if the death occurred after October 1, 2017
• $780 if the death occurred after October 1, 2018
• $796 if the death occurred after October 1, 2019
• $807 if the death occurred after October 1, 2020
• $828 if the death occurred after October 1, 2021
• $893 if the death occurred after October 1, 2022
• $948 if the death occurred after October 1, 2023

If the VA previously paid this plot allowance, the next of kin or authorized agent is required to make payment of same to the NHSVC. VA rules prohibit seeking plot allowance reimbursement if the veteran is charged a fee by a State. The VA does NOT pay plot allowance for Selected Reserve veterans.

Memorial Markers (NCA veteran only) are provided by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at no cost. A prerequisite for being eligible for a memorial marker is that the veteran cannot be memorialized in any other cemetery (i.e. have a headstone or grave marker of any kind)

This fee does not include the cost associated with the removal of the vault and/or the replacement of vault (if needed).  This must be accomplished by a vault company and coordinated with a funeral director or designee, or the next-of-kin as defined in RSA 290:16, or designated agent under RSA 290:17.
